Why do I like Spanish?
I like teaching Spanish to everyone. Especially when sharing my knowledge and skills with the next generation, in a way that allows them to learn and enjoy themselves. It is a priceless skill that’s in demand all over the world and for me It’s a big job.
It’s not just passing on what you’ve learnt to students. You’ll be a highly skilled communicator and carer, able to teach in many styles and techniques depending on the class.
I say to my students Speaking Spanish will open the door to a rich, and historically important culture. You will learn more about the country, where Spaniards like Pablo Picasso and Miguel de Cervantes came from. Many of the most popular artworks of the modern age have been created by artists of Spanish origin
What made you start teaching it?
My parents were a big influence through all my life. Although they never worked in the Education sector, they always saw in me the skills of caring, helping and learning. Some years later when I was doing my teaching training I confirmed my own love of learning makes me passionate about teaching.
I enjoyed working with primary schools, then I joined the secondary education. It was challenging but the rewards outweighed this. At the moment, I am delivering lessons for adults, which I find so envigourating.
Some teachers enter the profession because they’re eager to make a difference. People remember their teachers for an entire lifetime, long after school is over and I hope my students have experienced that moment with me.
Why did you study the class at university?
People decide to focus on language skills for different reasons. In my case, it was for making travelling easier and at the same time to enhance my professional live. In an ever more connected and global economy it’s becoming more and more important to have a second language.
